Student TechDesign: Salt-Fertilizer Spreader
This video features an interview - as conducted by his teacher - of a tenth-grade student in Ontario speaking about his 3D-printed spreader of salt in winter and fertilizer in summer. The spreader is made of biodegradable material, is light-weight, but durable. It is designed to be compact and versatile. His design was inspired by 'hippo rollers' for transporting water in South Africa. This work is part of the STEPWISE pedagogy, which aims to encourage and enable students to develop and implement personal and social actions that may help overcome harms they perceive in relationships among fields of science, technology, engineering & mathematics (STEM) and societies and environments; that is in STEM-SE relationships.
