WISE TechDesign - Machine Learning Garbage Sorter
In this video, a student in a grade 11, university-qualifying, biology course provides a brief description of a machine-learning app that can classify materials (e.g., commodities as recyclable or not ['garbage']). The app also has information promoting recycling. This product was generated as an action to overcome perceived harms (here, pollution) in relationships among fields of science & technology and societies & environments (STSE) - which is among the main goals of the STEPWISE project (www.stepwiser.ca). The student also claimed that such an innovation could become more popular through social media communications and changes to government regulations.
