4 Astroturfing - Teaching Application
This video developed by the STEPWISE team provides teachers with suggestions for lessons and student activities regarding ways that particular individuals (e.g., financiers) or groups (e.g., corporations, governments, transnational groups, etc.) may help create fake 'grassroots' activist groups. Much of the information about such manipulations comes from fields of Science & Technology Studies (STS). Once students know about and understand such aspects of the nature of science and technology, they can develop and implement more informed personal and sociopolitical actions to overcome harms they perceive in relationships among fields of science & technology and societies & environments (STSE).
