I just implemented the classic Snake game on the Arty S7 FPGA board using a 128x32 pixel OLED display from Digilent. Let me tell you the steps involved in creating such a game on an FPGA.
I also recommend my new VHDL course, which has 15 lessons that show all the details of setting up this project.
Furthermore, you will create VHDL simulations that interact with other systems in real-time, such as C or Python programs. We will do both by using Questa/ModelSim's Foreign Language Interface (FLI) API.
