In this video, I'm going to list every single player that has to be in the rotation for the Warriors this upcoming season. Ever since the Warriors lost Klay Thompson, Chris Paul, and Dario Saric in the offseason, there has been a breath of fresh air within this roster. There are now vacant starting spots as this new team could present a different identity. Conversations about who will be a part of the rotation are a big topic for this team since it's apparent that the Warriors have 13 players who are considered worthy of the rotation. Fans have advocated for certain players to be ones that should receive consistent playing time throughout the course of this season but the head coach of the Warriors, Steve Kerr, may or may not have different ideas. Upon examining this team's landscape and the roster's capabilities, I have separated the 13 potential rotational players into 2 piles.
The first pile is called the "locked" pile, meaning that regardless of what the team's health looks like, or what type of team we're matching up against, this player should receive minutes regularly. Then there's the "situational" pile where these players' minutes are not exactly going to be consistent throughout the season. Their playing time is going to depend on them either filling in the rotation because someone else is injured, or we're playing against a team where their value is going to be needed for us to win the game. Out of those 13 players, I have nine players that belong in the "locked" category. Most people can get an idea of who's going to be a part of this section. Then the remaining 4 players are placed in the "situational" list.
Steve Kerr and his coaching staff truly have a tough job on their hands because even though I don't have any relations to the Warrior's coaching staff whatsoever since all 13 potential rotational players provide different types of values, it was hard to place certain guys in the "situational" list. You can even see it in preseason where there were issues playing all 13 guys and beyond despite the lower minutes that Steph Curry and Draymond Green received. However, in this business in order to win you have to make the right decision regardless of how one may feel about it. The one knock on the Golden State Warriors the past 2 seasons is that people believed that they prioritized personal relationships over business as they were hesitant to actively improve the roster midseason. At the time of this recording, Steve Kerr had already made it public that he informed Lindy Waters and Gui Santos that they would not be a part of the rotation on opening night. This is the attitude that needs to be enforced because for the Warriors to get back to championship-level contention, their rotation has to be sharp this season.
