Why The Warriors Do Not Need Jordan Poole Again
In this video, I'm going to explain why the Warriors do not need to pursue Jordan Poole again at the trade deadline this NBA season. The Warriors have been on a rough skid in the last few games due to their scoring issues. Steph has been very inconsistent in the large sample as the team's number 1 option and the system players haven't been performing well in order to stabilize the damage. As a result, fans are starting to really miss Jordan Poole's presence on this team and some are putting the idea out there to go and get him back on this team. Even though Jordan Poole was a big part of the Warriors championship run in 2022, the idea of bringing him back will only bring the team more harm than good.
Jordan Poole was the 28th pick in the 2019 NBA draft, He was picked by the Warriors and had a solid rookie season. However, in the years after that, he struggled to display his value and consistency as a rotation player for the Dubs. He was in and out of lineups and even thrown into the G League. It wasn't until 2nd half of the 2021 NBA season that Poole showed some promising potential of being a legit scoring threat for the Warriors. In the 2022 NBA season, everything took off for Poole as his averages began to skyrocket and his role in the Warriors began to expand. He was a key contributor alongside Steph Curry as a ballhandler and scoring option. But the entire world still didn't get the memo about Jordan Poole. They thought he was a regular-season player and equipped for a postseason environment.
In the first round of the 2022 NBA playoffs, Steph Curry had to come off the bench due to an injury to end the regular season and Jordan Poole fully took over as the starting point guard. He completely rose to the moment and flashed his potential of being a high-level perimeter scoring guard in the NBA. Fans were shocked to see how good Poole was and were excited for what was to come. As the postseason went on, he continued to provide as much assistance as he could on the offensive side of things and eventually the Warriors captured their 4th title in 8 years. When the offseason came around, there were discussions about Jordan Poole getting paid big money for his postseason contributions. However, things would take a very dicey turn when Draymond Green got into an unfortunate altercation with Jordan Poole during practice that resulted in Green physically harming Poole. This slowly led to the divide between Jordan Poole and the Warriors and things were never the same after that. A disappointing postseason performance in 2023 was the icing on the cake and the front office decided to make their decision to keep Draymond and move on from Jordan Poole.
