In this video, I'm going to explain everything that Steph Curry and the Golden State Warriors need to do to have a legitimate chance of contending for an NBA title. The Warriors surprised the NBA when they climbed to the top of the Western Conference as one of the best teams in the league. Their expectations were very low based on the talent of the roster and the question surrounding Steph Curry's ability to produce at a superstar level at 37 years old. But the Warriors were able to establish themselves as one of the best offenses and defenses to start the season. Unfortunately, since starting the season 10-2, they've lost a stretch of games where some of them they should've won and others were them just simply being outplayed.
The Warriors are currently one of the best defenses in the league, thanks to the addition of Jerry Stackhouse and the presence of Draymond Green. Despite a disappointing previous season from the former DPOY, a team that has a player like Draymond Green will always be a great defensive team to a certain degree. However, many players on the team have given Stackhouse a ton of praise for instilling principles and different schemes that have elevated the team's defense in many ways. Steve Kerr mentioned that it's a focus for the Warriors to defend at a high level this season and even though things are not looking great right now, they are doing just that.
Despite this team possessing a lot of leadership, they aren't exactly an old team. There are quite a few young players that have big roles on this team. However, a lot of them have either had disappointing starts to the season or their development isn't heading in the right direction for them to be qualified to assist this team. The Warriors have prioritized 2 different timelines ever since they won the title in 2022. They preserved the core of the Big 3 between Stephen Curry, Draymond Green, and Klay Thompson, along with some other young players that they drafted in the coming years. They believed in their ability to develop these young players during Steph Curry's championship window to become valuable pieces come playoff time, however, it ended up being a big reason why the Warriors were never able to get back in title contention.
But ultimately speaking this franchise revolves around 1 man and that is Steph Curry. He's the main character. He's given this franchise not just hardware and accolades but also relevance as a high-market team. With that being said, he's gotta play better in certain aspects for the Warriors to contend for another championship and for him to have a shot at picking up ring number 5. Even though he's about to be 37 years old, he has to play at his absolute best due to the circumstances that he's a part of.
