This video will show you how to translate a document in Trados Studio using KantanAPI.
1. Install the KantanAPI Connector on Trados Studio. For more information on this watch: (Name)
2. Next, open a project or create a new one. To do this, click ‘New Project’, enter a name, select the source and target language, and add the document you want to translate.
3. Then, you need to add the KantanMT API Connector to your project. Navigate to the ‘Translation Memory and Automated Translation’ tab and under ‘Language Pairs’ ‘All Language Pairs’, click ‘Add’.
4. Select the KantanMT API Connector from the dropdown menu or go to ‘Settings’, if it was already added. In the box enter your token and select the engine you want to use from the drop-down menu and click ‘Launch API’.
5. The API status will change from ‘Offline’ to ‘Initialising’. When the API is launched, the status will change to ‘Running’.
6. If you want all segments to be provided with an automated translation suggestion, select the option ‘Translate drafts and empty segments’. Click ‘Ok’ and make sure that both the ‘Enabled’ and ‘Lookup’ boxes are checked. Then click ‘Ok’ again.
7. Open the document to translate in the Editor, by double clicking on the document in the ‘Files’ tab.
8. Whenever you click any of the editable target language fields, you will see the automated translation suggestion (marked as AT) popping up next to your translation memory fuzzy matches, if any.
9. If you want to pretranslate your document completely with your Machine Translation output, select ‘Pretranslate’ from the batch processing options and mark the option ‘Apply automated translation when no match found’. Once the process is finished, the whole document will be pretranslated and ready for the postediting.
