This week Cassie Bernyk, Stewardship Programs Coordinator, and a group of UVLT garden volunteers, harvested 175 pounds of Burbank Russet and Red Pontiac potatoes in just a couple of hours! We planted our seed potatoes at the end of June which is a little later than we usually do, because we wanted to try and wait out the potato bugs. This method proved pretty successful for the garden and still allowed us to have a good harvest.
We have a couple of weeks left of our season at the Brookmead Garden and are still hosting our weekly work days if you would like to come out and join us in the garden!
Thank you to all of our garden volunteers and supporters, we could not do this without you!
Brookmead Garden weekly workdays:
Every Thursday: 2pm-5pm
