Field Notes Friday: Kestrel Boxes
This week Alexander van Engelen, UVLT Land Steward, along with a few volunteers installed kestrel nesting boxes at our Brookmead Conservation Area and Mountain View Conservation Area. UVLT has partnered with Vermont Institute of Natural Sciences (VINS) to monitor these boxes during kestrel breeding season and hopefully band nestlings from successful nest boxes before the fledge.
We want to thank our friends at VINS and UVLT volunteers for helping us provide these brand new safe breeding spots for local kestrel pairs come the spring time.
