It's amazing how much work you can get done when you're in a 'flow' state. And conversely, when you aren't able to manage distractions, or if interruptions eat away at your focus or you let anxiety or negative thought patterns sap your mental energy, productivity suffers tremendously. This is why the practice of managing your states is at least as important as learning new techniques for productivity, in regards to achieving your goals. We all know that the way we think about the past or the future can affect how we behave in the past. But we can use this fact to our advantage: the better able we are to visualize our future success, the more clearly the path to getting there comes into view.
