Mount Bromo is located in East Java Province, Indonesia, and administratively spans four regencies: Probolinggo Regency, Pasuruan Regency, Lumajang Regency, and Malang Regency.
The name "Bromo" comes from the Javanese pronunciation for Brahma, one of the main gods in Hinduism. This reflects the influence of Hindu culture and beliefs in the region, particularly those of the Tengger people.
Mount Bromo is part of the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park (TNBTS) and belongs to the Tengger mountain range, with an elevation of approximately 2,329 meters above sea level (masl). Bromo is not the highest mountain in the region (Mount Semeru is the highest), but it is the most famous for its natural beauty and cultural significance.
Mount Bromo is not only a natural tourist attraction, but also a symbol of sacredness and local wisdom. The combination of natural beauty and spirituality makes it unique worldwide. Therefore, Bromo has become a world-class tourist destination, visited by both local and international tourists. This time, Adit, my friends, and I explored Mount Bromo on foot during the annual Fjällräven Discovery event. This was my first experience attending an international event and meeting climbers from various countries, especially in Southeast Asia.
