I will be having surgery tomorrow and made this video about what has been going on. I am due for my 3rd pacemaker and have been having problems with my ventricular lead - again. I have an old V lead that was left in place because removing leads is risky, but this current V lead is failing and I need a new one. My cardiology team feels I am too small to tolerate yet another lead in my heart...and my surgeon also believes that my left subclavian vein is clotted already. They are going to remove both V leads and may change out the atrial lead as well. This is a serious procedure and I am so scared! :'( My surgeon says it will take about 3 hours if I don't have complications. Given my history post-op issues though, that is not as reassuring as it could be. I will be spending Friday night in the ICU and then they will assess from there.
If you have ever had a pacer lead extracted, I would love to talk with you about it! I did do a vlog search but was unable to find anyone talking about having this procedure.
Please think good thoughts for me!
