Oso Flaco Lake state park. Oceano California... Lets explore this beautiful trail together.
If you like hiking and are visiting the central coast you must visit Oso Flaco Lake state park. If you are not into hiking and love your couch then this video is for you. This area was home to the Chumash Indians and this state park is open dawn to dusk. No admission fee and free parking makes it a great value. Hike/walk this beautiful 1.9 mile round trip trail and enjoy the natural beauty of the Nipomo and Guadalupe dunes. Wooden boardwalk trail goes over the Oso Flaco Lake which is a sanctuary for many birds and wildlife. Pretty much all of the trail is paved or boardwalk so you only walk in the sand at the end in you want to go on the beach. Trail leads to the Pacific Ocean where you can just relax and enjoy the scenery or do some surf fishing. Apparently surf fishing is good in this area and the most popular fish caught is Barred Surf Perch. Cooked correctly this is a delicious fish.
