[TRANSCRIPT] At the end of the day it's not how big your house is or how much money you got in the bank account, it's being comfortable and happy with what you got.

By trade I'm an auto mechanic but my current profession is an automotive instructor for a high school.

So this is my house, I think it was built in 1954-ish, located in Redford Township, Michigan. The neighborhood's pretty quiet so far. All the neighbors have been great. I think I've met everyone within probably five houses of me.

We were in that era where if your house was for sale, people were offering $50,000 cash above asking price and we were a hot mess. So finally when I found this one, it was sound. I just had to do a little work to get it livable. So I spent a month instead of using the money I had for my down payment. With MSHDA, I was able to take that money, take care of that business, and then keep my savings and use it as I was fixing the place up.

You know, I've only been here a year now, and I've already been told the equity I've built in my house in the year that I've been here is going to pay off dividends.

Research the MSHDA program for sure. For most people, I don't think there's going to be any way you wouldn't take advantage of it. As long as you follow the policy and do the things accordingly, I think it's a great opportunity, especially right now with the market the way it is. You work so hard to save all your money to be able to afford this house, and then come time of closing, you're counting your pennies. Like, do I have enough to actually sign today? And the MSHDA assistance was a breath of fresh air to know that I can continue to live day to day and not paycheck to paycheck knowing that I still got money in the bank, thanks to MSHDA.

MSHDA, your best way home.
