Meadowlands Alanson | Affordable Housing by MSHDA

[TRANSCRIPT] We are in the Meadowlands subdivision in Alanson today. It's a 50 acre job site where we're going to be building 32 homes in the next couple of years.
Many communities in Michigan, including in northern Michigan, are suffering from a lack of housing units, especially those that are affordable to the workforce. So we have a lot of folks in this area that are working in hospitality, and they have a hard time finding housing that's affordable for them. This project is integral in meeting the 75,000 unit goal that the governor has established for the state of Michigan.
We've been working with MSHDA for the last year or so. We applied for their Missing Middle program and we were lucky to be awarded $1,020,000. That's going to support the development of these homes in the subdivision.
Our Missing Middle program were funds that were appropriated through the state government and actually provides for a very flexible program
and that is for for sale homes, rental homes, new construction and rehabilitation for families between 60% and 120% of area median income.
Which fits perfectly in this area.
I think this development is a great example of the governor's plan for the statewide housing plan. It really is creating additional housing stock that is for our working class individual.
