[TRANSCRIPT] Welcome to Kalamazoo's Northside neighborhood. I want to thank everyone, especially the YMCA of Greater Kalamazoo, for partnering with me on the adjacent Early Learning Center. City staff, county staff, MEDC and EGLE, who are all here today for their support and assistance and MSHDA for running the missing middle program--everyone of these partners--understanding the importance of elite affordable homes and providing educational opportunities to our future leaders.
I've seen firsthand as an athlete and business, that it takes heart, work and elite teams to accomplish uncommon goals.
Having a safe a secure place for your kid to go during a day while you're at work is really important. And this place being so close to where we work and doing such a great job is just a blessing for us and the neighborhood.
We all know that housing is foundational. It's foundational to good education. It's foundational to healthy families, to creating the social structures that we all depend on every single day to be successful in our lives.
Jamauri Bogan has been taking, our mission of build baby build to heart. His firm, Bogan Development spearheaded the construction of Zone 32 multi-use facility that we are standing in today, and I'm proud of the state of Michigan, the city of Kalamazoo. This has been a joint project and awfully, awfully glad to see 12 housing units, childcare facility in partnership with the YMCA of Greater Kalamazoo is really fantastic.
Housing and childcare go hand in hand. It's time that we ensure every family has got both. And that's why, Jamauri's foresight in taking this on is just really remarkable.
This is only the beginning of Bogan Development's work in this community. And together, together, together we will move this community forward.
