On the 4th of July, my dad and I hit a major milestone in our off-grid log cabin build in western Maine — setting up the lifting poles that will make the entire structure possible.
If you’re familiar with the LHBA (Log Home Builders Association) method, you know this is where things start to get real. These lifting poles are the backbone of the pulley system we’ll use to raise the logs and build the cabin safely and efficiently. It’s the first true step toward seeing this cabin come out of the ground.
This video is a bit different than my usual uploads — life and work have been a lot lately, and I’ve fallen behind on editing. So for the next few videos, I’m keeping things more raw and real: less polish, fewer cuts, and more of the actual process. Think of it as coming along for the build in real time.
Also… yes, the hair is now bright pink and purple. Because why not bring a little chaos to the woods 🌲🔥
I’ve also been seeing some comments asking why there isn’t more footage of me actively building, and I want to address that honestly. I’m not running a full production out here — this is something I do for fun with my dad. When I’m holding the camera, I can’t be building, and when I’m building, my dad is focused on teaching and safety—not filming. Right now I’m often in a “gofer” role, helping where I can and learning by watching and doing. It may not always look flashy on camera, but I’m gaining real, hands-on skills every time we’re out here.
