In this video learn about what is granularity and how to apply it in Tableau.
The enhanced analysis is achieved through the use of the granularity feature. Granularity is the breakdown of data to the simplest unit of analysis that enables trends to be established in the simplest unit. In tableau, there is no specific feature of achieving granularity. Nevertheless, it is achieved through the breakdown of the data using various tools. Visualization is achieved through color coding, size of different fields etc. In this example, granularity was achieved by comparing two measured values to each other and adding dimension values to different representations in tableau. In this case, the marks panel in tableau with different features on color and size were used. This granularity feature in tableau enabled the data to achieve unit comparison based on color intensity and size
Tableau is utilized to perform data visualization, the data is represented in different sizes mostly from spreadsheets filled through extensive data collection. The Data analyzed ranges from different fields and categories to different measures of values. In Tableau the data is divided into dimensions and measures. Dimensions are based on the different fields while measures are based on the values of different fields. In tableau, it is preferred that measures take the row and dimensions take the columns.
