Tooltip is a feature in tableau that enables the user to display additional information on an already plotted informatics be it a graph or a heat map, or any other infographic available in tableau. The tooltip feature is found beside the dimensions and measures window in tableau. For explaining this feature the infographic utilized is that of a bar graph as the user, hovers over the bars of a graph, a small box appears with information about the field of the column and the value it represents, this enables the user to view the value represented by each field with much ease.
The tooltip feature can easily be edited in different ways, additional information can be added on the tooltip by dragging different fields containing different information to the tooltip icon in the marks panel. The tooltip feature can also be easily updated by opening the tooltip command and inserting additional fields.
The font of the tooltip can also be modified using this process when the tooltip window is opened a font option is provided whereby the user can modify the font utilized, the color of the font and the strength of the font. After applying the changes the user can notice the change instantly on the tooltips. This tooltip feature enhances the ease of extracting information from infographics in tableau.
