Data visualization in tableau takes place in several stages before achieving the final mode of visualization required. The first stage involves importing data from different tables or databases. Organizations use different means to store their data, based on which is more efficient for different forms of data analysis. The different formats the data exists in are predefined by an organization, several formats exist such as csv or xls.
Data visualization in tableau only takes effect from one table, therefore during importing data sets the user has to join the entire fields he or she wishes to analyse in one table. This is achieved by crossdatabase joins. This join feature in tableau enables the user to join imported file formats of different fields to form one table. The crossdatabase join command is also implemented in such a way that if the two tables have one common field the crossdatabase join links each record based on the common field. The join also provides the user with an option of choosing which tale to merge to what table this is achieved by choosing the type of union whether left or right. Without the crossdatabase join command manually joining table in different formats would prove erroneous to the user.
