To keep zeros from showing up in cells with a zero value, go to the go to the File tab and select "Options". (For 2007, go to the Office Button and select "Excel Options"). On the left-hand menu, select Advanced. Scroll down to "Display Options for this Workbook" and uncheck "Show a Zero in Cells that have Zero Value".
