August Burns Red's song "Treatment" from their new album "Rescue and Restore".
August Burns Red's album has finally come out, my friends. The album is fantastic, but you don't need me to tell you that.
"Treatment" has a very distinct message that is critical for us, as followers of Christ, to understand. ABR writes this to say, "Stop worrying about yourself, and let's think about how we can impact other peoples' lives." Stop being judgmental, stop being critical, and start being a follower of Jesus. Stop hating the sinner, and hate the sin itself. Love the sinner because we all sin. Why judge someone for something they struggle with when you're just as deserving of the judgement. A christian's job is NOT to decide who or what is right or wrong, but to love people regardless of the situation.
"Too many hearts filled with hate." Where is the love that Jesus showed to the people he encountered? If we are striving to be like Jesus, we should strive to acquire unshakable love for one another. That's who Jesus was.
"Stop dwelling on what happens when we die. Start helping others while we're still alive." This is the most important line in the entire song in my opinion. Stop worrying about whether you're going to make it to heaven or not, and start making sure others have a chance to make it there. God has given us the responsibility to proclaim his glory to those who don't know of it. You can't do this when your time has already run out.
"You crown your religion instead of your king." As Christians, we should be more like Jesus. Don't get caught up in being "religious". Don't get caught up in making sure you follow every rule while remaining spotless and perfect. It's not about what you avoid that makes you a follower of Christ, but what you do to impact his kingdom for good.
