I love For Today's lyrics. Mattie Montgomery is a lyrical genius, and his words are true and powerful. He gives a few words at the beginning of the song "Breaker's Origin" to explain what he went through. Those same things were overcome to become who he is today in God. "Devastator" is about what he has become and how we will conquer Satan in the battle of Armageddon.
"Hell, fear me. I am the one that will bring you down. And when you fall, feel me. You'll see my face on the battleground." It's pretty self-explanatory when Mattie is saying here. He will take down the devil with the power of God. God has given him strength to break chains and reach people on this earth who will join him in defeating Satan in this life and in the afterlife.
"I will cast you down at the foot of the cross he hung from. I will stand behind my Savior as he burns your kingdom down. I will see you on your knees before the King of Kings." This is addressed to Satan, as Christians will defeat him and he will worship God. Satan will meet his maker. He will lose his fame as the Christians (chosen ones) defeat him.
"This is the army we've been waiting for." Referring to Christians and the army of God.
"Justice! God, bring justice." God will bring justice upon Satan and his followers for the persecution and death they have put upon Christians.
"This war will end." God will eternally destroy Satan and his followers at the battle of Armageddon.
This song is intense. However, they are joyous times for those who follow God because we will have victory over Satan according to the book of Revelation.
