Yes, I finally did a song that wasn't an ABR song. I had a request to do an Oh, Sleeper song, and I really love the band so I thought it would be cool to switch it up a little. This band is known for powerful lyrics, and I absolutely love the meaning of this song.
Micah is the screamer in Oh, Sleeper. Shane is the singer, at least in this particular song. The background behind these guys, as far as their religious views go, is pretty simple. Micah is a devoted Christian, who lives each day to be more like Jesus. Shane recognizes this in the rest of the band, but is not a Christian himself. He believes in God, but just can't bring himself to surrender.
Shane starts off the song singing about how he can't find God. God isn't doing anything for him, and he just can't get into him. Micah comes in about halfway through the song and speaks the words of Jesus himself as a response. Micah has prayed for Shane, and this was the response from God. The thought of that blows my mind, and I am stricken with chills every time I hear this song. It breaks me down, and I am thankful to serve such a powerful God.
