December 2012: We stayed at Tanna Tree Top Lodge for 2 nights. We wanted to sleep up high and we got our wish. Very steep and uneven thirty (bigfala) steps had to be climbed to get up and down what was basically a ladder up a giant Banyan tree. Not suitable for anyone with knee, hip, bladder or fear of height problems or probably kids under 8 yrs. Let the boys carry your bags, the extra weight caused a step to break under our friend Joel when he was climbing down, luckily it was near to the bottom so he only fell a few metres.
Sleeping in the treehouse was lovely. Using the smol haos (the pit toilet), was not (it really stank), so we usually ducked out into the bush instead.
There is little water here, bring your own drinking water if you can as the local water may be high in fluoride (poisonous) from the close proximity to the volcano which constantly dusts everything with layers of fine ash.
Meals were large and the performance by Phillip's band, the Young Believers, was amazing; ask if they will sing for you.
Fred and Nancy George are the hosts at Tanna Tree Tops. Fed arranges tours but he doesn't include the cost of transport with the cost of the tour entry, so make sure you check that you have both prices quoted when planning trips.

I loved the treehouse part of Tanna Tree Tops but I'd probably stay just down the track at Jungle Oasis Bungalows next time. See my clip.
