Holling Hoodhood is being influenced by his father to inherit his business, his dream is to become an olympian runner, I am Addison Adkins coming from Wednesday Wars by: Gary D Schmidt. I enjoyed this book a lot due to the dramatic changes in the plot and the way it introduced characters. Holling Hoodhood begins hating his teacher, Mrs. Baker, however as the story develops Holling realizes that his teacher is slowly bringing him to great success. Holling encounters a school bully throughout this story who brings more problems to the conflict. Hollings bully tries to constantly sabotage Hollings work, setting his dad’s business and himself behind. Holling eventually finds great success in his career with the help of his teacher. The author includes many versions of new york slang to add to world building. Continuing on world building the author constantly brings up the war in vietnam and soldiers to set the scene. Many of the characters wear casual jeans and shirts however Mrs. Baker wears exotic clothes such as multi colored dresses. The author leads this book to have the theme of not being prejudice. In the end I would recommend this book to someone interested in historical fiction books due to how much I enjoyed the book and the dramatic plot changes read this for yourself and find the story of Holling Hoodhood.
