Riding Up Tunnel Creek Road
This is my first attempt at an action video with my new GoPro Hero 10 Black, or "GoPro" for short, lol. I'm riding up Tunnel Creek Road in Incline Village Nevada, on the East shore of Lake Tahoe, up to where it meets with the Flume Trail. Then I ride back down.
It's a long ride up for me. I'm not an athlete so once I get up the first mile, I'm fairly tired. The grade gets less steep but I'm tired by then.
Tunnel Creek Road is named after Tunnel Creek, obviously, and the creek in turn is named after the tunnel where a flume floated cut lumber through the mountain and then down towards Carson City and Virginia City where much of it was used in the Virginia City mines. I mention the tunnel when I get to it on the ride. Nothing is very visible other than the contour of the hills and the road changing a bit at that spot. I also ride past another trail that heads to the top of the incline railroad where rail cars of lumber were winched up the hill from the mill. The flume trails in this area are all fairly level because those flumes brought water to the top of the incline and to the tunnel.
