Someone using the Linkage app asked me about a variation to the mechanism in this video: • Right Angle Transmission of Linear Motion and I did some experimentation and sent them a video of what they asked for. I came up with this new variation while experimenting with that mechanism. In this variation, the movement of the vertical sliding component is sort of mirrored in the other horizontal sliding component. That's the opposite of the original mechanism. A bell crank could do something similar by placing it in the right position. But a bell crank doesn't maintain the linear motion.

I doubt that there is an application for this type of mechanism since sliding connections are not going to maintain accuracy. But it is interesting.
