ABC 11 Eyewitness News at Noon open - Interrupted by a fire alarm - 5/28/2024
ABC11 Eyewitness News was interrupted by the fire alarm going off, it’s happened a few times the last time I got it on tape its was before the new ABC O&O graphics debut and it happened during the 4pm news I’m not releasing that tape. Anchors Joel Brown and Amber Rupinta were very profesional about it and didn’t react to it, I couldn’t imagine being on air if that happened I probably would’ve said WTF if that was me. On other tv stations it happened all the time, because of all the studio equipment fire alarm system are sensitive to smoke it could also be a test, they wouldn’t do a fire drill on air thought that happened once in 2007 in WTXF Fox 29 Philly in the middle of there morning show. It common to conduct fire drills if it’s by law, or the fire department tells them, some only do when there an actual fire it varies on station.
