Meet the flying fish.
They make powerful, self-propelled leaps out of the water. Their long wing-like pectoral fins enable gliding for considerable distances at speeds of more than 35 miles an hour (56 kph).
With a strong tail wind they can glide for hundreds of meters.
They do this to avoid fast predators such as Dolphinfish. But this strategy makes them vulnerable to another predator. Frigatebirds.
