This is possibly the smartest fish in the sea.
You see, manta rays are a type of cartilaginous fish. They have massive brains. The biggest of any fish. Particularly the giant oceanic manta ray species. With its brain weighing up to 200 grams. That's 7 ounces!
Almost ten times larger than that of the gargantuan whale shark.
This means the manta ray has the largest brain-to-mass ratio of any fish.
Manta Rays have also passed the Mirror Test.
Their behavioural responses in front of a mirror indicated a high level of cognitive self awareness and consciousness.
Similar behavioural responses are considered proof of self-awareness in great apes.
