We'll help as long as it takes!
Dear friends, it is 2023 and we are still at war. We get back to you to say: We will continue supporting Ukrainian LGBTIQ* in need as long as it takes.
This is Conrad from Munich Kyiv Queer with another fresh update after a long break.
I’d like to tell you: After 12 months of war, it is, of course, hard to find back to the energy level of 2022. Nobody knows how long this war will last. But I can say: We will definitely try.
From 24th of February last year we by now have collected around 155.000 Euros with Munich Kyiv Queer for individual help of queer people who have lost their jobs, home, families or friends, people on the run. Thanks to you all for this support! And thanks to Sibylle’s recent trip to Ukraine some 8000 Euros are left. That is not much, we need more.
We will also continue to accommodate queer refugees from Ukraine with our newly founded association Munich Queer Homes, but we still got no funding for it, so we need donations for this, too.
But, good news: We will start a mentorship program soon to help integrate our guests from Ukraine here in Munich even better. It’s also a way to make new friends! We’ll communicate details about it this on our channels, soon.
For all of this we need your help – still for a while I guess. If you can – donate but take also good care of yourself. This is important in these dark days. Our friends in Ukraine will be very grateful!

HELP FOR LGBTIQ* ORGANISATIONS To support LGBTIQ* in Ukraine we have helped set up the Alliance Queer Emergency Aid Ukraine, in which around 40 German LGBTIQ* Human Rights organisations are involved. All these groups have access to very different Human Rights organisations in Ukraine and use funds for urgently needed care or evacuation of queer people. HOUSING FOR QUEER REFUGEES FROM UKRAINE LGBTIQ* often have seen discrimination in their lifes, therefore queer refugees are particularly vulnerable. Many are traumatised and now they experience re-traumatisation on the run. We want to offer them a home where they feel comfortable and can live without fear. Depending on availability, we rent two-, three-, four- or five-room flats and sublet them to people in need as shared flats. Our association does not have any funding yet, so we depend on donations. For example, we have to advance rent and deposits until the State’s job centres step in.
