In this lecture we started an important topic of biotechnology named as recombinant DNA technology.
Here we discussed the components or tools of recombinant technology.
There are five important components of recombinant DNA technology
1) Gene of interest
2) Restriction endonucleases
3) Cloning vectors
4) DNA LIGASE
5) Expression system
How gene of interest can be obtained?
What is DNA synthesizer machine?
What are molecular scissors?
What are restricte endonuclease enzymes?
How endonuclease enzyme works?
What is staggered cut?
What is palindromic sequence?
What is site of restriction?
What is blunt cut?
What does it mean by 5' sticky ends and 3' sticky ends?
What is the natural defense mechanism of bacteria against phage viruses?
What is cloning vector?
What properties should be in cloning vector?
What is recombinant DNA?
What is molecular glue?
Why DNA ligase is used in recombinant DNA technology?
What is expression system in recombinant DNA technology?
What properties should a host possess in recombinant DNA technology?
Mention some examples of cloning vectors or carriers?
And many such questions are addressed in this lecture.
