# 8 Random Wire 50" Antenna with Tecsun PL-990
In this video I am trying out a 50" Random Wire Antenna. I am scanning Short Wave on the Tecsun PL-990 Short Wave Radio at about 7:30 am. CST.
I turned the dial and also let the radio scan until it stopped at a possible station.
I have realized that my 50' Antenna and the 100' Antenna do, as good a job, if not better than the MLA-30 + Loop Antennas. And this is with me only using an alligator clip fastened to the end of the random wire and clipped onto the telescopic antenna. I usually set the antenna selector switch to external, but have also tried it on the internal, which seems to make little to no difference so far.
