When in Guadalajara, it is evident that two things unite the populace. You know what they are...
Tacos and tequila.
There are taquerias everywhere and even if you aren't in a taqueria, most restaurants serve them anyway. Even the high end places have a taco of some kind on the menu.
So, obviously, I had to do my best to try as much of both specialties as possible.
One of my friends, Mariana, told me that Taqueria Tomate had the best tacos in the area and another friend, Jaren, agreed that they were "bomb". So, obviously I had to go.
Taqueria Tomate is located right in the middle of Chapultepec which is a long boulevard that runs north/south to the east of el Centro. It's got tons of bars and restaurants and is really lively during the weekends.
Since I don't eat swine, I got the bistec tacos, but clearly everyone was there for the al pastor, which you could see rotating in the front of the house.
For $11 I had a beer, a lemonade, and was stuffed from tacos. They bring you a plate of meat and fixing's and you put together your own tacos with the tortillas. The meat was flavorful (despite my COVID stunted sense of smell) and the salsa spicy.
I'd definitely go back for more.
