Mean Median and Mode in Excel
Descriptive analysis is one of the most common forms of analysis as it explains a lot about the data collected. The descriptive analysis involves the processing of data based on common descriptive statistics already inbuilt as functions in MS Excel 2016. The descriptive statistics include, mean, mode, median etc. Normal and basic methods utilized to output such descriptive statistics in the previous versions of excel involved typing in a formula at the cell you wish to display the information. The typed formula started with an equal sign followed by the descriptive statistics being used then the range of cells containing the data. However, MS Excel 2016 has simplified this through the use of a data analysis feature that allows the user to select the range of text inclusive of the column label followed by identifying the type of statistical analysis to be conducted, the last step involves selection of the sheet or workbook to display the result.
MS Excel 2016, just like any spreadsheet allows the user to input values on rows and columns as well as import data values from tables existing in different formats. Once the data is acquired excel enables the user to perform different operations on the data based on the results or analysis they wish to acquire at the end of the day. Data is usually collected as a result of research or record keeping, therefore analysis has to be done to enhance the explanation of the results collected.
