Hi there and welcome to my channel!
If you drive in the UK, your car, motorbike, lorry or van might break down, so how do you call for help? You'll have to call your insurance company or you may be a member of a roadside or breakdown assistance company, also called motoring clubs, like the AAA or the Green Flag in the United Kingdom, and you'll have to ask for either a mechanical service -if the breakdown can be repaired on the spot, or a towing service -if the breakdown is more serious and special parts are needed, and your car or your vehicle needs to be transported.
The first thing to do is make sure your broken down car can be seen by other drivers at a safe distance. To do this, you should place your warning triangles by your car, if you are roadside, and put on a high vis or reflective vest. In town, indicators or signals are enough -of course, if they are working.
Nowadays, it's very easy to find out where you are on your smartphone by using google maps, turning your location on and getting your GPS coordinates. When you call the emergency service, you'll be asked for your policy or customer number, a contact phone number, how many people are in the car, the make, model and color of the car, what the problem is, and where your usual workshop or mechanics is.
There are different types of tows or tow trucks, but the most common are: the standard hook and chain variety, and the flat bed tows.
So, if the vehicle cannot be repaired right away or you are far from home or abroad, your insurance or breakdown cover might offer you an overnight stay at a hotel or the means of transport to get home, such as a taxi, rental car, train, bus or plane.
So that's all for now, thank you for listening today, I hope you found this video useful.ç
