Many Indians, according to Nair, will beat around the bush when asked for a yes or no answer by an American client, and will ultimately say 'yes' in hopes of clarifying their answer later or just to escape a potentially awkward conversation.

American clients, being accustomed to concise, to-the-point answers will usually interpret a 'yes' as actually meaning 'yes' - end of story. Indian developers, however, frequently expect the conversation to continue so that the initial 'yes' can turn into a more nuanced answer. This difference in communication style is the root of many misunderstandings and subsequent frustration with US clients hire Indian companies.

Simply understanding this communication theme can help a lot, and building a strong relationship with your team where everyone feels confident and free to communicate accurately can solve the problem completely.
