Seven additional expressway routes, including the Gyeongin Expressway undergrounding project, will be constructed in Incheon.
A budget of 7.6 trillion won will be invested in these projects.
With the expansion of 116.7 km of expressways,
traffic congestion is expected to decrease significantly.

The Gyeongin Expressway undergrounding project,
included in the '2nd Expressway Construction Plan.'
This project involves constructing a 19.3 km, four-lane underground road from Sinwol IC, past Seoincheon IC, to Namcheongra IC.
The project cost is 2.041 trillion won.
Once the underground road is constructed,
it will be possible to travel from Namcheongra to Yeouido in Seoul in under 17 minutes.
The '2nd Expressway Construction Plan' also includes the expansion project for the 2nd Gyeongin Line.
The width of the 2nd Gyeongin Expressway from Munhak IC to Seoksu IC will be expanded from the existing 6 lanes to 8 lanes.
A new expressway connecting Gyeyang and Ganghwa will also be constructed.
With a total length of 31.5 km extending from Sangya-dong in Gyeyang-gu to Ganghwa-eup in Ganghwa-gun, a feasibility study is currently underway.
Completion is scheduled for 2031.
Additionally, the project to extend the Yeongdong Expressway from Wolgot to Seochang is scheduled for completion in 2026, and the Seochang-Gimpo Expressway is scheduled for completion in 2028.
A preliminary feasibility study for the Namdong IC improvement project has been underway since January of this year, and the project for the Capital Region 2nd Ring Expressway, connecting Incheon and Ansan, is being pursued with the goal of completion in 2029. The total project cost for the seven expressway construction projects is 7.674 trillion won.
With a total length of 116.7 km being expanded, chronic traffic congestion is expected to be resolved and traffic congestion levels to be significantly reduced.
