The Seas Are Rising And So Are We

Our climate change crisis is the most significant issue youth generations will ever face and how we go about solving it will define our time here on planet Earth. Thankfully, the youth voice is louder than ever and the impact we can make in our society is astronomical. In this presentation, Delaney Renolds and Richard Jacobs explore some ways that you, no matter how young you are, can help save our precious environment.
Delaney is a fourth generation Miamian and splits her time between the cosmopolitan city of a few million people where she was born and No Name Key, a 1,000-acre island in the Florida Keys, where her family owns a solar powered home. She is a Foote Fellow and Singer Scholar at the University of Miami Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science where she’s pursuing a double major in Marine Science and Coastal Geology, as well as a minor in Climate Science and Policy.
Delaney is the founder and CEO of The Sink or Swim Project, an NGO focused on climate education and advocacy, as well as its website www.miamisearise.com, where she publishes a popular blog www.miamisearise.com/delaneys-blog/.
Richard Jacobs graduated from the University of Wisconsin in 1954, with a degree in business. A lawyer by training, a photographer by passion, he has been fortunate to have trekked and photo'd on the seven continents — and those experiences have shaped his life and understanding the nature of our responsibilities for the care of each other and our earth, the only home we will ever have.
