Latest Court Update for New U.S. Immigration Program
🇺🇸 Here is a simplified timeline of the events so far about the new Parole-in-Place (PIP) program:
📌June 18, 2024 ➡️ new U.S. immigration reform program by Biden program was announced. Program is called Keeping Families Together parole-in-place program.
📌August 19, 2024 ➡️ program was implemented. The rule allows legalization of status certain immigrant spouses & step children of U.S. citizens who entered the U.S. illegally without them having to leave the country. They would be given humanitarian parole, & a path to permanent residency or a green card.
📌August 23, 2024 ➡️ sixteen Republican-led states, led by Texas filed a complaint to block DHS’s Keeping Families Together parole-in-place program.
📌August 26, 2024 ➡️ Judge Barker of the E.D. Texas issued an administrative stay of granting applications under the Keeping Families Together Parole-in-Place Program for a period of at least 14 days to expire on September 9, 2024.
📌Sep 4, 2024 ➡️ Judge J. Campbell Barker issued an order extending the administrative stay preventing USCIS from approving any Keeping Families Together parole-in-place applications for an additional 14 days (through September 23, 2024).
✅ NOTE 📝 ➡️ USCIS certainly CAN continue to accept and review PIP applications but cannot grant parole.
