Foreign Divorce Decree? Validity for Your Green Card or U.S. Citizenship Application
The validity of a divorce obtained abroad for immigration purposes is determined by:
1️⃣ the foreign country's divorce laws and
2️⃣ the reciprocity laws in the US state where the applicant remarried.
If the divorce is not valid or finalized according to foreign law, the remarriage to a US citizen isn't valid for immigration.
