Introducing: THE SLABBY PATTY! A Lent friendly Fish Sandwich using CRAPPIE.

Today I’ll make a dish that has become one of my favorite ways to enjoy crappie. Simply put...a crappie sandwich hereunto referred to as the “Slabby Patty”. It’s a play on the Sponge Bob crabby patty but utilizing crappie otherwise known as slabs. My son coined the term one spring outing while fishing for crappie a few years back & it stuck. But it made me think; How can I pull this off? Since then I’ve experimented with different breading, different seasoning & different methods of cooking the crappie while trying to make a Slabby Patty. Ultimately, I decided that I liked it prepared similar to a Po’ boy, however I settled on using a toasted jumbo hamburger bun to give it that crabby paddy look. Enjoy!
Remoulade:
1/2-2/3 cup of Mayo
1 tsp of Ketchup
1 tsp of Mustard
1 tsp of prepared Horseradish
1 Tblsp of Sweet Paprika
2 cloves minced Garlic
Hot Sauce to taste
1 Tblsp Lemon Juice
Fresh Crappie fillets
Your favorite fish fry
Shredded lettuce
Sliced tomato
Jumbo hamburger buns
