UPS Rank-and-File Focus: Elijah Buckram
One of the biggest priorities for Teamsters in this historic contract campaign at UPS is eliminating the unjust two-tier 22.4 classification. Our National Negotiating Committee and rank-and-file members like Elijah are fighting to secure equal wages by making all 22.4s into Regular Package Car Drivers (RPCDs).
"We don't have the same benefits as the RPCDs. We do the same job, but we get paid significantly less," said Elijah, a 22.4 driver and member of Teamsters Local 804 in Maspeth, NY. "This is the change we need. It's one union. Everybody should get equal pay doing the same job."
