Scale insects are small, sucking pests that feed off many different plants, stunting their growth. As a result, they produce honeydew that can attract other pests like ants or wasps or stick to leaves and develop sooty mold. Their protective shells and waxy coatings protect them from most contact sprays, so to control scales in large infestations, we recommend you use a systemic insecticide that can be absorbed into treated plants like Dominion 2L. When properly applied, Dominion 2L will translocate through a treated plant. Scales that feed off the plant will ingest the pesticide. To get rid of scales on houseplants, use either a cotton swab dipped in rubbing alcohol and apply to individual scales, or use a spray bottle. The alcohol will work to burn affected scales immediately.
