Know Your Application: Ultra-Low Volume (ULV) Spraying
Ultra-Low Volume (ULV) fogging is a spray application that runs a small amount of concentrate through fogging equipment to spray it over a large area. To create “fog,” your fogging equipment uses motors to produce a high-power, low-pressure air stream. ULV applications can be made with portable or stationary fogging equipment and wearable backpack foggers. ULV Fogging, also referred to as Cold Fogging, compresses pesticides or disinfectants into small enough particles to remain suspended in the air for a time. Specialized equipment will produce particle sizes of 1 to 30 microns, though the optimum size to control flying insects is 10 to 15 microns. ULV applications are effective in treating flying pests and the exposed crawling stages of pests.
