Mums

There ain’t no such Love like the Love of a Mum
For the dainty young girl or the boisterous young son
Those past and those present and those yet to be
Will experience the role that is known as ‘Mummy’

The reason why Mothers are called number one
Carried and nurtured us, safe in your tum
Each day, each week, each month in your life
Some single, some split and some were a wife

Blessed was the day that the baby appeared
You smiled, you squeezed, your eyes red and teared
You clothed us, you fed us, you sent us to school
Prepared us, you taught us to be nobody's fool

You’ve never stop caring from birth until grown
Some go to work and some stay at home
The life of a mother takes patience and time
To Love us so much is that such a crime?

Your Mum may have passed to the place up above
Though gone you still feel the warmth of her Love
The good times the bad times and things you regret
The things that our memories will never forget

No matter how young or how old we should be
Your Love still surrounds us, it’s warm and it’s free
That’s why you are special in every way
To Mums, Nans and Great Grans on this fine ‘Mothers Day’
