Tax Return Season

Accountants, Bookkeepers both far and those near
It’s come, it’s stress season, this time of the year
Director, Self-employed, or work in a pair
Just put down your pens and lend me your ear
Tax year ends in April, it ends on the 5th
You have 9 months after, now… that is a gift
So why wait ‘till January to give us your gear?
You’ve past Summer and Xmas and also New Year
Let me just tell you what stress us the most
Is slap bang in January we receive some post
There’s packets, some boxes the old plastic bag
Stuffed with receipts and statements, now this makes us so sad
Remember this timescale, there is just no fun
But clients will think that there’s just only one
Got statements? How goes it? You got my spreadsheet?
Some scribble, bad writing and others are neat
We add, times and subtract and take stuff away
For up until February, for us there’s no play
The stress to meet deadline, we’re up against time
The last one to go is eleven five nine
Then Feb, Mar, April we sleep until dawn
We get up when ready, stretch, scratch and a yawn
Twas worth it, the deadline the stress and the toil
Make ready the steam room, hot tub for the boil
I know I’m not talking to every one
You’re done, and submitted, paid tax, some pay none
You also like refunds that go in your bank
