Yellowstone National Park & Comet Neowise
Taking a trip up to Yellowstone National Park to photo Comet Neowise, summer 2020.
Took the crew up Yellowstone for a few days. Stayed in West Yellowstone and explored Lamar Valley and finally watched Old Faithful at night.
The main purpose of the trip was to get a shot of the comet with old faithful at the same time. Timing and planning were important. Old Faithful only spews about every hour. The comet was only visible for a bit after sunset, then it would set itself. We ended up shooting around 10:30 pm with the comet positioned just above where the geyser shoots. Any earlier and the comet would have been too high, any later and it would be too low.
Lots of wildlife, and Lamar Valley is my favorite place to river swim.
